The Jen Murphy is the site of Jen Murphy, known as Ingredient Librarian: a beauty-industry insider (makeup artist since 1991, esthetician since 2005, founder of version.O Skincare and Fragrance) who reads the back of the bottle so you do not have to. It is an independent, brand-agnostic clean-beauty reference that decodes what is actually in skincare and makeup, with full ingredient transparency, plain-language "clean" flags, and honest receipts on every product card. No brand deals.

## How it works

Every product, brand, ingredient, retailer, research study, regulator, and app has its own card. Users browse the card feed, save products to their File and Deck, and follow ingredient links to go deeper. There are no sponsored rankings. Every affiliate relationship is disclosed directly on the card.

## Clean classification

A product is classified as "clean" unless it contains: parabens, formaldehyde releasers, phthalates, triclosan, hydroquinone, coal tar, toluene, oxybenzone, BHA/BHT, sulfates (SLS/SLES), PEGs, mineral oil/petrolatum/paraffin, or has an EWG score of 7 or higher.

Ingredient safety data comes from: EWG Skin Deep, CIR (Cosmetic Ingredient Review), EU CosIng database, PubChem, and Kew Gardens (POWO/WCVP for botanical taxonomy). No AI-generated factual data is used.
