Fragrance allergic contact dermatitis.

Findings

Fragrances are the #1 cause of allergic contact dermatitis in Europe and North America, affecting people of all ages. Reactions range from mild contact urticaria (itching/hives) to systemic contact dermatitis, and the problem is growing as fragrances become more common in everyday products. Better allergen identification, labeling requirements, and consumer education are key to preventing sensitization.
