Findings

A drug-free gel with phospholipid vesicles (TDT 064) reduced knee osteoarthritis pain and stiffness about as well as the oral drug celecoxib in a study of over 1,300 people over 12 weeks. The tiny phospholipid particles penetrate skin to reach the joint, possibly by lubricating cartilage. Side effects were mild and mostly skin-related.
