Safety of titanium dioxide nanoparticles in cosmetics.

Findings

Nano titanium dioxide in sunscreens and skincare doesn't penetrate beyond your skin's outer layer or enter your bloodstream—even on damaged skin. It's not a carcinogen, mutagen, or reproductive toxicant at concentrations up to 25%. The main concern: avoid inhaling it from sprays and powders, where animal studies showed potential lung inflammation.
