Findings
Tranexamic acid, originally used to stop bleeding in surgery, has proven anti-inflammatory and melanin-suppressing properties that make it effective for treating melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, acne, rosacea, and angioedema. It can be applied topically, taken orally, or injected, and works better in some cases when combined with other treatments.
