Findings
This review of keratin research shows that keratin-based wound dressings (made from wool, hair, and animal bristles) speed up healing in both acute and chronic wounds. Keratin works because your skin naturally increases it during wound healing, and these biomaterials mimic your skin's structure while breaking down safely in your body—but this is a review of existing studies, not new clinical data.
