Findings
This review found that non-drug topical ingredients—particularly zinc, piroctone olamine, and a few others—may help manage seborrheic dermatitis symptoms and reduce flare-ups when used alongside proper cleansing and moisturizing. While these ingredients show antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory potential, the researchers emphasized that seborrheic dermatitis is chronic and recurring, so no topical treatment actually cures it; they're symptom managers, not solutions.
