Findings
Scientists discovered 2-mercaptonicotinoyl glycine (2-MNG), a new ingredient that reduces dark spots and uneven skin tone by blocking melanin production at a different step than existing options. Unlike common brighteners, it doesn't interfere with the enzyme tyrosinase—instead it stops melanin building blocks from assembling into pigment, which means it works without disrupting healthy melanocyte cells.
