Topical delivery of pharmaceutica…croemulsion systems.

Findings

Microemulsions are tiny, stable droplet systems that can potentially deliver skincare actives deeper into skin — but only if the ingredient itself is small enough, has the right balance of oil and water-loving properties, and plays well with the delivery vehicle. Researchers found that by customizing the microemulsion's formula (changing its components, thickness, and structure), they could control how much of an active actually penetrates skin and where it releases, even for larger or harder-to-deliver molecules.
