In a 2-week trial with 30 elderly adults, an oat extract emollient significantly reduced itching compared to no treatment — over half reported improvement and 30% said the itching disappeared entirely. The product also improved dry skin texture and skin hydration when used daily, though it didn't reduce water loss from the skin barrier.
